The Party

Rosie, John, and I spent yesterday home while the other kids were in Omaha. I told them beforehand that we were going to have a party and they were so excited they could hardly sleep.

They made a 'party list' the day before of all the maybes and for sures we should do in the party. Somehow, probably due to overuse, the party list was lost before Sunday morning. No worries though, they were able to reconstruct it word for word since they had read it so many times.

Eating cold cereal was not on the party list, but we did it anyway. A great way to kick things off.

We colored. I think I should take time off to color more often, it was just as fun as I had remembered.

We watched "Mater's Tall Tales" before lunch. After lunch they watched "Sleeping Beauty" while I made supper. By the way, "Mater's Tall Tales" is a must see for all fans of either "Cars" or cartoons in general. I think it is even more fun for adults than for kids. I laughed my head off while John and Rosie sat there with silly grins, probably because they were not sure why I was laughing so hard.

We made cookies. Lots of cookies. Eight and a half dozen to be exact.

Something about stirring an enormous batch of cookies brings out the inner super woman in me. Beware of coming too near when I am making cookies, you might just be subject to the evil laugh and threatenings with a wooden spoon.

While I was making lunch they amused themselves by looking at all our old National Geographics. Needless to say, I was done before they were.

Near the top of the party list was "eat ice cream". I sampled a little too much cookie dough to be able to eat all my ice cream, so I gave it to John. Rosie was suffering from the same problem, and John volunteered to eat hers as well. Rosie, somewhat shocked and obviously fearing for John's health exclaimed, "John, you are going to be sick!!" To which John countered, "Well, I don't care. You guys are here to take care of me."

We partied hard, but I did not make it until the kids came home. I made sure that "take naps" was on the party list beforehand just in case.
