Books

I love books. Really and a lot. The question of 'what would you like for your birthday Leah?' has always been answered with, 'Books'. I am always on the lookout for a good book. As a result I have acquired quite a few books over the years. Our library is currently selling some of their books, and I just couldn't help buying a few of them too. Now I have too many books for my bookcase.

About a third of my collection.

A recent addition. I bought this 1930's dictionary for 50 cents!

Some of the books I was keeping in the bookcase downstairs. (If you are getting bored let me know) :)

Of all the thoughts this picture could produce, whenever I look at it I think, "Old books, new books, red books, blue books..."

Back to the problem of having a too-small bookcase. (not too many books) I started looking around at the local thrift stores, and found this one for $33. The saleslady kindly marked it down to $25 for me, and the only problem left was how to get it home. A friend and I went to fetch it, and with great effort, squeezed it into her car and brought it home.

I put it up in my room and filled it with my books. The best part? There is extra room!

Tada!

Typical

Most of these pictures are of Rosie and John, and their typical lives. :)

John loves to build all sorts of things out of couch cushions.

A house

Pi... :)

A royal throne.

He is also very creative in coming up with all sorts of things to make with his toys...

like a corral for his cattle. :)

A few days ago I was summoned in to the presence of their royal majesties,

King John,

And Queen Rosie.

As always there is school. John has become quite good at arranging all the letters in the correct order.

And Rosie is a very good artist.

And Timo is Timo. :) Here he proves to the world that he can indeed fit an entire orange in his mouth.
That is all for now folks!

I miss you Hutchins

Katherine Hutchins came up to visit us a week or two ago, and it was awesome. Even though we wished the rest of the Hutchins could have made it up. :(
While Katherine was here, she worked on a picture in one of our coloring books. She did an amazing job with it. I color for art sometimes in school. I did one as well. (I do not think I did as good as a job as Katherine)

Dear Hutchins Family, I missed you. I hope to see you as soon as I can. I love y'all!! :D

Mysteries

I love a good mystery. And I love reading Sherlock Holmes. In fact I like Sherlock Holmes so much that I bought my own beautifully bound copy. (book lovers may now drool)
But... that is not what this post is about...

I have my very own mystery going on right here on the blog. (pause... for effect of course) My mystery, (or just what I am curious about) is, (another pause, for effect of course) Who is reading what I write? I know quite a few people who read the blog regularly, and I know there are quite a few people who read, who I am not sure who is. I can tell by the feedjit on the side. The column on the side underneath all our pictures, is the feedjit, and it tells me what city and state a visitor is from, when they come, and what internet browser you use. Scary huh? :) But don't worry, it doesn't say Who you are. I have put some places and people together, but there are quite a few that are still a mystery.
Some that I am particularly curious about include:
Darmstadt, Hessen, Germany
Thessaloniki, Greece
The United Kingdom
Australia
and particularly, Brownsville, Texas
So, if you visit my blog and read this, please, please comment and tell me who you are and where you are from, even if you are not from one of the places I mentioned. If you don't know where you are from, just scroll down to the feedjit and your location should be right on top. :)
Oh, and if you haven't already, you really should read Sherlock Holmes. ;)

Typical

Typical is the post Leah always does so I thought I would give it a try. :D We will see how I do.

John is very creative with his playing, but I think we have all put boxes on our heads but did not get a picture of it. :P

This is a beautiful picture!!!! Don't you agree? The other day it was wonderful weather here and Rosie and John spent most of their day outside

I make breakfasts at home and I love doing it. This is trying to get a art like picture of bread. :D
That is all for now but we will post more as soon as we can!! :D

The Great Flop

As you may recall, I recently transplanted several plants I had sprouted into real dirt. One month later, here is how they are doing.

Just as a reminder, they originally looked like this.

The pussy-willows now look like this. They died. :( I did manage to grow some weeds though.

And this is (or was) the lilac.

Close up of the pussy-willows before...

And after.

The lilac before...

And that stick is it now.

I also planted a little vine-thing. This is it then...

And now. It grew!!!! :) So our first shot at sprouting trees was a great flop, but now we know that this small generic vine is hardy enough to survive me. :)
