All of you former residents of the Hipps' house and frequent visitors will not need an explanation of the following picture, however, for the rest of you I have provided a caption.
We have had a hole in the floor in front of the stove almost as long as I can remember. I think it was a leftover from a post that used to be there when we first moved in, but I am not sure. We nailed a rug over it and it has been out of sight out of mind for, well, a long time. In the much more recent past, the rug tore out of two of the nails and could be turned up, however we did not turn it up to see what was underneath it. Yesterday Dad ran a clean up crew deep cleaning a few areas of the house and someone turned the rug up. There, much to everyone's astonishment, was a hole filled with fine dust that had worked its way down through or under the rug. They vacuumed it out and Benjamin made a wood block to fill the hole. It did not create the smooth transition we wanted though, so Dad finished it over with Bondo. All I can say is after years of sweeping around that rug, this definitely counts as one of Father's big improvements. Thanks Dad!! :D
Hurrah! :D
