Ending an Adventure

Today I find myself at the end of several adventures at once. I walked out of the doors of my elementary school for the last time as a student teacher, I drove down my driveway for the last time while I live here and I ate the last supper with my family while we all live in the same house.

My 6th graders were not very happy about me leaving. In fact, they and my host teacher thought perhaps she should have told WGU I failed student teaching and needed to stay with them for the rest of the year before I was ready to graduate... :D

Leah went all out and made chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes for my celebration/last supper. Leah, you rock!!!

They decided I needed to be carried to the table. Need I remind anyone that just a few years ago I was carrying this fine young man around??

Anything Benjamin can do, Timothy and John can also do, just as good...

And of course, Leah can also do. Even better....

One thing has a way of leading to another.

But I will always be the big sister!!!
As one adventure comes to an end, another is about to begin. Tomorrow I move to my new apartment in Omaha and in 10 days I start working at Compass Ministries. The way God so effortlessly opened the doors and closed others at the same time is still amazing me. I feel as if I am leaving one mission field for the next and while I am excited to go, I am sad to leave. But that is how it should be. It is love that compels us to reach out and go and love that makes it hard to leave. I feel the love in my heart and life is full to overflowing right about now... All this leads me to an announcement. I have set up a new blog to chronicle the adventures God leads me on from here. I don't have any posts up yet, but hope to get the first one up some time next week. In the mean time, feel free to pop over and check out the very basic format and add the URL to your favorites. :D www.beeautifulthings.blogspot.com Note the extra 'e'. Of course beautifulthings was already taken, but I figured an extra 'e' for Emily would be easy enough to remember...
It has been a wild ride to this point and somehow I have the feeling that is not going to change. I am looking forward to sharing what God does with you all, because I know He is making some beautiful things.
